You can take almost everything away from a person—their home, their family, their money, or their job—and they will still find a way to make themselves understood somehow, because it is important to everyone to be heard in some way …
That’s why it’s so important to me to help the men and women on death row make their voices heard. The sometimes desperate silence that prevails there is not due to the inmates‘ unwillingness to speak, but often simply to the lack of interest on the part of publishers in passing on their words to where they would be heard. It’s just not profitable enough! However, since I am in the wonderful position of not being financially dependent on my activism and have a couple of volunteers at my side who also work for free, I was able to publish the books listed below. Whether they are poetry collections, biographies, or personal accounts, they are all worth reading …
